High Street Junction with The Tyning

High Street Freshford Somerset Junction with The Tyning

A view looking down the High Street where it joins The Tyning. This junction is situated at the top of the hill, on a sharp bend, with a narrow pavement only on one side. Freshford Church of England Primary School is on the left.

Note the lack of pavement on the left-hand side and the sunken state of the pavement where the continual effect of traffic negotiating the sharp corner has had its affect. The Tyning Green is open to public use but is not owned by the village. Popular footpaths lead through the beautiful Tyning woods down to the river Frome and on to Freshford Mill.

There is a widening of the road here on the right-hand side that may be privately owned. Beyond this area the road is barely wide enough for two cars to pass, and usually one car will give way.

Damage has been caused in the recent past to the corbelled doorway lintel belonging to a house on the left-hand side and two stanchions have been placed on the pavement to prevent this damage happening again, this street furniture further deters drivers from not giving way.
